Thanks to all who have been leaving comments. It is so encouraging to us all to see those who are thinking about us and praying for us. The increase in pain has been difficult. It kept Sandi up most of the night on Thursday and prevented her from being able to receive the port on Friday morning. She was able to pull enough strength together for chemo. It was a long appointment but she got through it and we brought her home to rest. We will try again for a port next week. Eating is becoming a challenge. The doctor wants her to increase water and protein...not exactly what you crave when you don't feel well but we are exploring new appetizing options. :) Ron has been doing an amazing job taking care of Sandi. He is able to make spreadsheets for all her meds and has been helping rub her back during the pain episodes. He has a much bigger job though...he is her husband, in good times and in bad. He may not realize it, but his grandchildren are so blessed to have grandparents who chose to love the Lord and each other everyday. Please join us in praying this week. Pray for pain relief, for courage to fight this battle, for a response to the chemo, strength for Ron, wisdom for the doctors, a healthy appetite, and a new routine for this stage. Also, please pray for all of Ron's family who suffered the loss of Ron's brother, Wayne.

Dear Ron and Sandi, Its hard enough to deal with the day to day of pain and chemo then add to that the loss of a loved one. My heart is sad with you.
ReplyDeleteToday at the women's bible study we started studying Psalms and the first one chosen was Psalm 23. One verse stands out to me for you today..."yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for you (Lord) are with me".
Knowing (personally, deep in your heart) that God is with you is the strength that will carry you through the valley. I know you believe this and I believe it with you.
The Psalm ends with "surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever". One version we looked at today put it this way...God will chase me everyday with His goodness and love...I like that. It lets me know that God is actively pursuing me to give me His best.
Let Him catch you today and lay you down by still waters in green pastures to restore your souls.
Love you and holding you up in prayer.
The ENTIRE Olson Clan,
ReplyDeleteWe are praying for you during this difficult time.
Sandi, I admire you for your strength and devotion to our Lord.
Ron, I admire you for taking your vows to Sandi so serious...I know it's what a good husband is supposed to do, but so many others skip out. She is Blessed to have you.
Dawn, youre right, your girls are Blessed to have such INCREDIBLE grandparents...and although they may not recognize it now, they will and it will carry them far. Don't forget, Dawn, that Ron and Sandi are Blessed to have such an amazing daughter, as well. Give yourself some credit, lady. You are an great example of what family should do, when tough times arise. Thanks for being an example to me and others.
We continue to pray for relief, strength and rest.
God Bless You ALL,
Tinell
Sandi & Ron,
ReplyDeleteYou two are my oldest friends and I hold you both very close to my heart and prayers all day long. Ron I'm very sorry to hear about the passing of your brother. Our thoughts are with your family. We never know what the future will hold but with your believe and total devotion to our Lord and all the love and support from all your friends and family this cancer doesn't have a chance. Your friend for always. Love Cass
My Dear Friends,
ReplyDeleteYou are constantly in my thoughts-I continue to pray for pain relief, strength, and healing daily. Now my heart goes out to you, Ron, and your family with the passing of your brother. Sandi is so lucky to have you to care for her. I know the value of that partner's strength after my own brush with cancer last fall. Love to you both,
Molly
Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful promise! God delights in you. In the Hebrew it means that God is spinning around and singing over you with great joy. This picture of God just makes me laugh with wonder.
May your hearts be lifted up today as He quiets you with His love.
